Only in baseball, America's sport, could a simple stick have so many different accessories. The bat, a simple round wooden stick that can be purchased for a few dollars to hundreds of dollars at any sports store and most superstores like Wal-Mart, has many different accessories to help in the care of the bat and the improvement of the game. These bat accessories are not all necessary in order to play the game and many people who play for fun often never use these accessories. However, those who hope to make it to the major league of professional baseball find these same accessories indispensable.



The baseball bat is an icon of Americana. Baseball has long been considered America's sport; much like Soccer is the rest of the world's sport. To help care for the baseball bat, there are several baseball bat accessories that the potential professionals and professional baseball players must have. One such accessory is bat tar. Bat tar is a protection sealant that seals the bat from any moisture and potential rot. While baseball can be stopped due to heavy rain, it is not stopped due to light rain or a wet field. This exposes the baseball bat to moisture that could destroy the wood if the bat is not protected. While other woods such as those in the home can be protected with a lacquer coating, the baseball bat needs a more flexible coating that will not chip off. Tar has worked very well at protecting the baseball bat while still providing flexibility for striking baseballs at incredible speeds.

Another important member of the bat accessories must have list is the baseball bat travel case. Baseball is a mobile sport, one that can take place in a number of different places within a week. It is not uncommon for baseball games to include double headers and for baseball games to be every day of the week during the baseball season. Baseball players often do not see their home too often during the season. To keep their baseball bats in order, the player must have a baseball bat case that holds several baseball bats incase one bat breaks or becomes damaged. These cases can be a duffle bag style or an over the shoulder style, depending upon the player's preference. They can even be personalized to include the player's name or team name. This helps to keep each baseball bat carrying case strait as to who owns it.
